Heather Havrilesky, ex-suck writer. Particularly fond of this, this, this, this, and this. But if you happen to have signed up for an XML class that's boring you out of your mind, it's all good.

For Jessica, which is the strongest piece of writing I've read in a long time. "Love you did not know you were capable of feeling, primal and angry and powerful, you would kill ten men and Satan if you had to. But the universe doesnŐt ask that from you. "

My Competitive Advantage: I hire artists
Patronage
I am, somewhat sadly, somewhat not, not a multi-millionare. So I can't act as a patron all by myself, providing a decent enough living so that creators of different types can focus on creating things, and not worry about mundane things like food and housing. But, one of the nice things about the current internet age is that taste tribes can form, and support someone as a group. I do draw lines for who I will support this way; some creators can support themselves well enough with their creations, so I just buy their ouput, pay for experiences. Others . . . I'm not normal, whatever that may mean, so a fair number of artists I like don't have a large enough following. So, here's some creators I give money to:
- Cat & Girl/Dorothy Gambrell
- Rabbit Blog/Heather Havrilesky
- Will Shetterly/Emma Bull - one could do so for a great many reasons; I choose to do so due to Emma Bull being half of The Flash Girls, who I dearly miss. I'm probably much more amused than I should be that Per Gessle, of Roxette fame, provided some of their music, rather circuitiously.
- Jill Sobule - My name is sung on "The California Years;" I haven't heard it sung in concert yet. Some day, I will meet someone that will be impressed by this.
- The Yes Men
- Put This On
